Parent & Tot 1,2 & 3 (formerly AquaTots 1, 2 & 3)
The Red Cross Swim Program, AquaTots 1, 2 & 3, is now under a new title: Lifesaving Swim Program (Parent & Tot 1, 2 & 3).
Parent and Tot 1-3: This exciting program structures in-water interaction between parent and child to stress the importance of play in
developing water-positive attitudes and skills. Activities are planned based on the child’s maturity so parents register in the level appropriate for their child’s age.
The Aquatics section for this age group begins on page 131 of the City of Ottawa Recreation Guide . Click on the bookmarks tab, then click Aquatics for a list of all pools and their schedules.
The Lifesaving Society Swim program structures in-water interaction between parent and child to stress the importance of play in developing waterpositive attitudes and skills.
Infants and toddlers will be introduced to the joys of water activity while developing basic skills, and parents/caregivers will learn how to ensure safety at all times. We recommend infants start the program when they can hold their heads up independently. Children stay with the program until they are ready to move to the AquaPreschool program, at age three.
The parent/caregiver is not required to have swimming experience in order to register for the program, however the parent/caregiver must be in the water at all times. Please ensure children are wearing waterproof diapers.
Classes are held throughout the city and schedules and fees vary. Please see the Spring/Summer 2007 Swim schedule for details and registration information. (NB – scroll down the pages or bookmarks to find a pool nearest to you.
Online registration is available.
