Upon the arrival of your baby, the first step is to register your newborn with the City by filling in the Statement of Live Birth form so your child will have a legal identity. Once you register through the Registrar General of Ontario, you can apply for a birth certificate and a temporary Travel Letter . Universal Child Care Benefit (Gov't of Canada)

Description:

The Universal Child Care Benefit is a new initiative designed to assist Canadian families, as they seek to balance work and family life, by supporting their child care choices through direct financial support. The UCCB payment is proposed to be paid on behalf of children under the age of 6 years in instalments of $100 per month per child.

The Office of the Registrar General (ORG) is responsible for issuing birth certificates for people born in Ontario. A birth certificate is a "foundation identity document" that is required to apply for other forms of identification, such as social insurance numbers or health cards.

Before you apply for a birth certificate, you must register your child´s birth.
