Description:

Parents with children born on or after June 22, 2009, who anticipate a need to travel soon after the birth of their child, are advised to apply for a birth certificate at the same time they submit the Statement of Live Birth electronically through the Newborn Registration Service to expedite the process.

If the birth certificate was not requested at the same time the birth registration was submitted, parents should apply for a birth certificate by calling the Office of the Registrar General at 1-800-461-2146 or visiting Service Ontario online.

Universal Child Care Benefit/Child Tax Benefit (Gov't of Canada)

The Universal Child Care Benefit is a new initiative designed to assist Canadian families, as they seek to balance work and family life, by supporting their child care choices through direct financial support. The UCCB payment is proposed to be paid on behalf of children under the age of 6 years in instalments of $100 per month per child.
